Chocolate Strawberry Birds

These chocolate strawberry birds are almost too cute to eat. With their candy eyes, colorful beaks, and silly expressions, they’re a fun surprise for any celebration or just a random weekday treat. Whether you’re making them for a birthday party, a school snack, or a playful dessert, they’re guaranteed to spark giggles and requests for more.

They’re also incredibly easy to make. With just a few ingredients and no baking required, you can assemble a flock of these little birds in under 30 minutes. They’re sweet, simple, and full of joy, just like the moments we try to create around the kitchen table.

Ingredients

• 10 to 12 fresh strawberries, washed and dried with leaves on

• 1 cup chocolate chips or chocolate melting wafers

• Candy eyes

• Yellow mini M&M’s or candy-coated sunflower seeds (for beaks)

• Red mini M&M’s or red sprinkle hearts (for combs)

• Optional: wax paper or parchment for easy cleanup

Instructions

1. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until smooth.

2. Hold each strawberry by the leafy top and dip about two-thirds of the way into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off.

3. Place the dipped strawberry onto a sheet of wax or parchment paper.

4. While the chocolate is still wet, press two candy eyes near the top.

5. Add a yellow mini M&M vertically between the eyes for the beak.

6. Press a red candy or heart sprinkle slightly above the eyes as the comb.

7. Let the chocolate set fully at room temperature or chill in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

This treat is a sweet way to let kids play with their food in a good way. It’s quick to prepare and makes a big impact, especially when served on a platter or tucked into lunchboxes. You can easily swap the candies depending on what you have on hand or make this a DIY decorating station so your child can create their own bird designs. If you’re looking for a slightly healthier twist, you can use dark chocolate or even yogurt chips as a coating.

Chocolate strawberry birds are a reminder that snacks don’t have to be boring. They’re charming, cheerful, and a guaranteed conversation starter for kids and grown-ups alike. Share your flock with us by tagging @messyjoyshow and show off your delicious little creations.
